Overnight we had driven to Cork and stayed the night there. This morning we got up a bit later than we would have liked to, but it is hard to get up when its drizzling! We didn't have a lot planned for Cork and upon driving through we weren't really feeling the city, so we made our way back to Blarney Castle. The Blarney Castle cost 12 euros each and you need to have cash to pay. We were a bit unorganised on that front but managed to pull together the money by using the change we had accumulated.
The rain was holding off for now so we first wandered around the land looking at the different gardens they had. Making our way over to the castle, we could see where people were kissing the Blarney stone, and from the bottom it didn't look that high up. Up and up you go through a very narrow staircase, nearly causing me to become claustrophobic, we got to the top! I wasn't too sure about kissing the stone at first just because it looked so high up, but putting the irrational (or rational depending how you look at it) thoughts aside, we went over to kiss the stone. I grabbed the man who helps you so tight that I may have cut off circulation to his arm and quickly gave the stone a peck.
After Paul kissed the stone, he said his was more of a loving embrace than mine, as Paul seemed to fly through it all, not phased by the large drop underneath you. If only I could feel like that! Check out the video after we did it.
All in all a nice afternoon was had at the Blarney Castle and not bad for the price as there was a lot to see.
