Madrid

Heading to Madrid, we had to find a campsite near the city as we wanted to be able to leave a lot of our valuables in the van instead of taking them with us. Unfortunately there are not a lot of campsites to choose from that are reasonably close to the city. The one we went to wasn't that great, it looked like it hadn't been renovated since when it was first built in the 1800's (maybe slight exaggeration).

But anyway, the good thing about the campsite was that it was only a ten minute walk to the metro station and we got into the city within about 20 minutes. Hopping off at Gran Via we started exploring the city by foot. I kept following the shade everywhere as I believe it got up to 36 degrees.

Madrid is a really nice city, we really enjoy exploring it. We were very conscious of our belongings as we did see a group of people get pulled up by the cops for pick pocketing. I would have liked to have seen a flamenco show as I understand there is an award winning one in Madrid, but we couldn't fit it into our budget unfortunately and perhaps we might see one in another place in Spain.
