Our last planned activity in France was the Tour de France and the area we chose to watch it, was in the Pyrenees. We arrived at our campers spot on the Friday as we heard people camp out around two days beforehand and we didn't want to miss out. We actually didn't know the exact route of the tour, but as it turned out we parked on the road they came through so we were stoked!
The area that we camped was stunning and the views were beautiful. We also had lovely weather for the three days we were staying there. On the Saturday we decided to bike into one of the towns down the hill in order to get some supplies. Well it was all fun and games biking down the hill, BUT on the way back it was painful (for me anyway). Paul, being the fitness guy that he is, had no problems at all and was even beating some bikers that were biking up at the same time.
On Sunday morning, the day of the big race, we parked our bums in our seats along the roadside in order to ensure we got a good view. I have to say it seemed to take forever for them to come through as they didn't arrive until around 4pm. It was awesome to be amongst the atmosphere of it all and see the race in real life, something we will always remember.
