Cangas de Onis

In looking at our camper stop book for Spain, we noticed that there were not a lot of motorhome stops available to us, especially compared to France. However, Paul picked a beauty when he decided that we should park up at Cangas de Onis.

On our drive to the town, we were surrounded by beautiful scenery of the mountains and the river flowing through the towns. In looking down the river, all we could see were people kayaking. In seeing the kayakers we decided that we had to experience that as well.

So on Sunday, after spending Saturday in Cangas de Onis looking around, we signed up to hop in our double kayak. It was really awesome, and something different to just exploring towns and cities. They also gave you a packed lunch which we enjoyed by pulling on to the side at one of the many stops. It was also at this point that we realised we didn't bring a camera! Very annoying! So unfortunately you will have to take our word for it, but we did manage to go back and get a couple of snaps.

All in all, Cangas de Onis was a lovely town and you could get outdoors and enjoy it!

We went out for lunch and ordered a cheese platter... it was quite a lot of cheese! and some funky cheese we did and didn't like. The area is known for its cheese so it was nice to taste a variety.

We also ordered some cider which is poured like this... They only fill your glass up a bit as you are meant to drink it while it is bubbly and then you ask them again when you want it topped up.
