De Haar castle

Another magnificent attraction to be seen in Holland was the Kasteel De Haar in Utrecht. Parking the van in a little town not far from the Castle we biked in and around the castle to not only save money on parking, but enjoy the countryside of Holland and get in a little exercise.

The castle was entirely restored and partially rebuilt in the late 19th century. I have to say I have not seen such opulence in a castle before, from the kitchen to the bathrooms, the money that was put into this castle is very evident. It was nice to be inside such a castle and well worth the attraction fee of  €12.50 per person. This price includes a guided tour, which we had by audio guide as the guided one was in Dutch. A nice day out and about, and some nice photos to match.

Looks like a fairy tale castle

Looks like they had hosted an event the weekend before as they were packing all those marquees away

Looking toward the castle entrance from its enormous grounds (as you can see a bird has made a nice little nest for itself)

Picture time!

Paul's awesome bike outside the reception area

We spotted a house just down the road from the castle that had a miniature model of the castle on their front lawn

And this is the culprit of our hayfever - its hay making time!
