After visiting Loch Ness we made our way to the Culloden battlefield. The exhibition was free for us as we are national trust members, but if you aren't it would cost £10.50 each and to be honest I thought it was really worth it. The history of the events leading up to the battle of Culloden were explained in great detail with one side of the exhibition depicting the Government's side and the other side depicting the Jacobite's side. We were also given a presentation on the weapons used in the battle which was also very interesting.
Towards the end of the exhibition you can go outside with an audio guide and walk around where the battle would have taken place in 1746. It was so interesting but very sad at the same time to hear about the facts of the battle as some many men and boys were killed on that field and in such a horrific way.
Telling us all about the weaponry

Memorial site
This would have been a farm house back in the 16th century, however when the battle was on it would have been used as a make shift hospital for the Government army
