Dingle peninsula

We woke up to a lovely morning at the campsite and we had been told that the drive along the south west coast of Ireland was a lovely drive and something we should do. So following through with the recommendation, we jumped in the van with our first stop being Dingle.

A lovely little town to wander around and a nice harbour. Around Dingle they have a dolphin named Fungi that has visited the area since 1983. You can take a trip out on the boat to see him, but we however stayed on shore and admired the statue of him instead.

Moving on, we headed further around the coast soaking in the nice scenery and the warming temperature. On the way back from the Slea Head drive, we stopped in for lunch at the South Pole Inn.

The South Pole Inn was opened up by Tom Crean, an Antarctic Explorer from the early 1900's, after his Navy career in 1920. The pub is full of memorabilia from Tom Crean's trips to Antarctica and his life in general. The man at the campsite recommended the pub and stated we must have the seafood chowder, so we did. I have to say we both thought it was very yummy and glad we went off his recommendation. A luxury for us that was very welcoming!
