Cliffs of Moher

We arrived at the Cliffs of Moher at about 3.30pm and the rain had started to kick in. The lady at the parking desk stated that we could stay the night in our campervan if we wanted to. With that in mind, we made our way to the cliffs as the rain was quite light and we wanted to see them before the rain really set in. The cliffs have been our favourite part of the trip so far. The photos don't really do it justice at all. You can walk quite far along the cliffs, however we stopped about three quarters of the way as we decided to come back in the morning as we weren't sure what time the visitor's centre closed.

The entrance fee and parking costs 6 euros each, however as we figured out when the clocks struck 5.30pm, the parking barriers are lifted and anyone can park there for free. Plus when we did go into the centre no one checked our tickets. The visitor's centre is ok, there is an Atlantic exhibition that goes into how the cliffs formed, information about the wildlife, an interactive display about how earth looked millions of years ago and how it will look in 50 million years, a 3D experience about the cliffs and more. It was interesting stuff, but if you are on a budget like us, we would have happily skipped the visitor's centre and turned up at 5.30pm just to see the cliffs.

As we were staying the night, we went back to take photos at about 8pm when no one was around and the cliffs looked beautiful in the darkening night sky. We stayed the night in the car park and it is the best spot we have stayed at yet, nice and quiet and dark. We definitely recommend the Cliffs of Moher as something to see, and if you are a cheapskate like us, wait until it closes and you will have the place to yourself!

Oh and the next day we went and saw the Puffins in the morning, as they go out hunting from midday. We had to use our binoculars to see them (we didn't see them too great) but we are still claiming it :)

Anyway enough rambling I need to go catch up on Coronation Street! Hope Carl isn't still in the picture!
